Move a whole site to another server or domain. Export a zip on the old site and import it with Sorabun on the new one. URLs are rewritten automatically

Move the whole site somewhere else

"Sorabun > Backup / Migration > Migration" moves a site to another server or domain (Pro, administrators only). It works the same way as All-in-One WP Migration.

• Switch hosting providers
• Change domains (including http to https)
• Copy a live site to make a test site (staging)

Steps

1. On the old site, press "Export". The database and wp-content (images, themes, plugins) become one zip. When it's done, download it
2. On the new server, install WordPress, then install Sorabun (Pro) and activate your license
3. On the new site's "Migration" screen, choose the zip and press "Upload". Files larger than the server's upload limit also work, because they're sent in pieces
4. On the confirmation screen, check "I understand" and press "Import"
5. When it's done, log in again with the old site's username and password

For very large sites, put the zip in the new site's wp-content/sorabun-backups/ over FTP and it appears in the "Backup / Restore" list. If you use external storage (S3-compatible), set up the same storage on the new site and use "Bring to this server" in the list.

What's rewritten automatically

• The site URL (for example, http://old.example.jp to https://new.example.com). This covers post content, image URLs, URLs that the block editor and page builders store as JSON (https:\/\/...), and URL-encoded URLs
• File locations (the folder paths on the server)
• The table prefix (when they differ, such as wp_ and xyz_). User role settings are fixed along with it

Widget and theme settings are stored in PHP's serialized format, which records the length of each piece of text. Simply replacing text makes the lengths wrong and wipes the settings. Sorabun recounts the lengths as it rewrites, so nothing breaks.

After moving

• Enter Sorabun's API keys again. The keys are encrypted with a key that differs from site to site, so the new site can't read them. Other plugins may need their licenses entered again too
• External storage, the schedule, and your Sorabun license keep the new site's settings
• If pages show "Not found", open Settings > Permalinks and save without changing anything
• Switch your domain's DNS only after checking the site on the new server

Multisite isn't supported.
