Installation and License Activation

Last updated · Published · Sorabun Editorial Team

This page covers system requirements, how to install Lite (the free edition) and the Pro edition, activating and deactivating your license key, and how to check for and apply updates.

System requirements

  • WordPress 6.4 or later
  • PHP 8.1 or later
  • At least one AI API key for article generation

Installing Lite (the free edition)

From "Plugins > Add New" in the WordPress admin, search for Sorabun, install it, and activate it.

Installing the Pro edition

The Pro edition is installed through an installer sent to you after purchase. Here's how:

  1. Log in to My Page and download the installer ZIP
  2. Upload the ZIP under WordPress's "Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin" and activate it
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your license key (SRB-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX)
  4. Once activation succeeds, the full plugin downloads automatically and becomes the Pro edition
Why the installer approach

This delivers the full plugin only to sites that have passed license activation. Future updates also come directly from our own server, so you can update to the latest version straight from WordPress's update notifications.

Activating / deactivating your license

There's a License activation section at the very bottom of "Sorabun > Settings."

  • Activate: enter your key and press the button
  • Deactivate: press this when migrating your site, or when you want to use the license on a different site. Deactivating frees up one site slot on your plan
Activation is required for the Pro edition

Article generation won't run while unactivated. If you see a warning in the admin screen, check your key's activation status.

You can also check which sites are using which slots, and deactivate them, from My Page.

The all-features period for Cloud single articles and packs

If you use the Cloud edition with only single articles or 10-article packs, the articles you buy never expire, and each purchase also comes with a period during which all features are available.

PurchaseArticlesAll features
Single article (¥500)1 article (never expires)30 days
10-article pack (¥3,980)10 articles (never expire)90 days
  • Each purchase extends the period from the time remaining (including what's left of your trial)
  • The end date shows in the License activation section of the settings screen ("All features: through 2026-11-10") and on My Page. Dates are in Japan time, and you can use all features until the end of that day
  • We let you know in the dashboard and by email 7 days before and on the day the period ends

When the period ends, site management features such as security (vulnerability checks, firewall, tamper detection and more), backups, rank tracking, social posting, MCP and the REST API pause. These keep working after the period:

  • Writing articles with your remaining articles (including scheduled creation and completion notifications)
  • Two-factor sign-in and passkeys (login protection)
  • Features whose pausing would break your site (redirects, short links, in-article CTAs, paid article sales, podcast distribution, HTTPS switching and maintenance mode)

Your articles and settings stay as they are. Buying a single article or a pack brings all features back. Monthly plans (Cloud 30, 80 and 200) and the Pro edition plans include all features for as long as your subscription continues.

If you bought single articles or packs before 2026-10-11

All features are available until 2027-01-09 (Japan time). After that, the rules above apply.

Updates

Where can you check?

LocationWhat you can see
Settings > License Activation > VersionYour current version, and whether a newer one is available
WordPress "Plugins" screenUpdate notifications and an update button
WordPress "Dashboard > Updates"Same as above (bundled together with your other plugins)
ChangelogWhat changed in each version

How to update

If your Pro edition is activated, new versions appear in WordPress's "Updates" screen. Update it the same way you would any other plugin.

New version information is fetched every 12 hours. If you want it to reflect a version that was just released, press "Check for updates" in the settings screen, and it fetches immediately.

"Check again" also forces a refresh

Pressing "Check again" on WordPress's update screen also discards Sorabun's cache and fetches the latest information.

Enabling automatic updates

You can have WordPress update automatically whenever a new version is released.

  1. Open "Plugins" in the WordPress admin
  2. Click "Enable auto-updates" at the right end of the "Sorabun Pro" row

That's all it takes. From then on, WordPress applies new versions automatically as they're released.

You can also check whether this is currently on under "Settings > License Activation > Version."

If you see "Automatic updates are unavailable"

In versions before v2.7.7, the update source wasn't correctly communicated to WordPress, which caused this message. Updating manually to the latest version resolves it.

A note for sites running fully automated

Automatic updates are convenient, but if a problem appears right after an update, it's easy not to notice that article generation has stopped. We recommend enabling failure notifications under "Settings > Notifications."

For one-time purchase plans

Update delivery stops one year after purchase (the plugin itself keeps working). If you want to continue receiving updates, purchase a renewal license from My Page.
